I thought I’d share my personal review of the Kong Zoom Groom Rubber Brush. As I have three of my own cats I’ve spent the last few weeks testing it out on them. I have three cats, two are short haired (Lola a Bengal and Trixie an Oriental) and one is long haired (Nala a Maine Coon).
As a long-haired Maine Coon, Nala obviously needs to be brushed more than the others. Although I used it on all my cats, she was the main tester for the Kong Zoom Groom. Before I start, I will say that Nala hates being brushed, she bites the brush or swipes it from you. It is a battle to get her to stay still so that she can be brushed.
What is the Kong Zoom Groom
The Kong Zoom Groom is a rubber brush. It fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. The pointed rubber bristles are soft, flexible, and designed to massage with the slightest pressure.
Tried and tested
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been using the Kong Zoom Groom every day with Nala. At first, she did her usual trick of rolling over trying to bite it out of my hand. As soon as she’d had a little sniff she left me to it. We had the longest ever brushing sessions that we’ve ever had. I have tried the soft bristle brushes, the slicker grooming brushes, and the even the nasty ferminator (which I would not recommend or use!). But none have been as successful as the Kong Zoom Groom. Maybe I’ll share my thoughts on the others at a later date.
As the brush is flexible rubber it was able to move and glide across the contours of her body. The soft bristles gently pull loose hairs out. She obviously enjoyed the massaging experience or she wouldn’t have let me carry on with it.
The brush is easy enough to clean, just simply remove the excess hair. If necessary you can wash the brush, however I don’t wash it in-between my cats. It helps cats bond (in a multi-cat household) if their scent swaps so brushing one and then another is ideal. I just pull off any fur before moving on to my next cat.
Both Lola and Trixie, the short-haired cats, also enjoyed the brushing. Although they are easier to brush, they’ve never had a problem with other brushes. Neither was in a hurry for me to finish brushing.
The Verdict
Overall we all give the Kong Zoom Groom massive paws up. I did give out a couple in my goody bags for guests to try. And they were of the same opinions. Their cats loved it too, apparently. One cat kept rolling from side to side every time the brushing stopped. He obviously wasn’t ready for the groom to end.
*Please note the thoughts and opinions above are all my own, I was not paid or given any brushes to test. I purchased all the brushes, for my own use and for some of my guests at The Great Catsby.

Hi, I’m Jenny, I’ve been a huge cat lover all my life and currently share my home with 3 cats, Lola, Nala & Trixie.
Back in 2015, whilst on maternity leave with my second son, I had a crazy idea to start The Great Catsby. The doors opened in 2017 and I haven’t looked back since.
