I’m Jenny, the proud owner of The Great Catsby and a passionate cat lover.
Before opening The Great Catsby, I spent several years as a primary school teacher. However, after a disappointing experience with my beloved Bengal cat, Lola, I was inspired to create a luxury cat hotel where I would feel comfortable leaving my own cats. In 2017 I was able to turn my dreams into a reality and open the doors to The Great Catsby. Sadly, we said goodbye to my shadow and mascot Lola in December 2020 but she will always be part of The Great Catsby.
As a lifelong cat owner, I completely understand how worrying it can be to leave your furry family member behind. My own cats, Nala & Trixie, are not just pets—they are cherished members of our family whom we all adore. Since they are indoor cats, they are used to home comforts like warm, cosy spaces. And with a busy family and the run of the house, they love to climb, scratch, run around, jump across whatever surfaces they find, play (and annoy each other), and rest. Like most cats, they're usually found curled up on a bed, sofa or cardboard box but they do like to have a nosey at the window if something's going on.
I believe that just because a cat is away from home doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy the same experiences they are accustomed to. With The Great Catsby, my aim was to create a space that would allow cats to feel safe and secure without feeling lonely or restricted. I also wanted to give owners peace of mind that their beloved cats are cared for just as they would be at home so that they could enjoy their holiday without worrying and wondering if their cat was okay.

THE GREAT CATSBY STORY
The Great Catsby opened its doors in May 2017, although it was a dream many years before then. Since 2017 I’ve had the pleasure of welcoming hundreds of cats and watching many of them grow as they return each year.
With just seven exclusive rooms, I am able to focus on the well-being of every cat in my care. With this small, tailored approach, I can give each guest my undivided attention, providing them with plenty of love, fuss, and care throughout the day. There are three family rooms allowing up to four cats from the same family to share, the remaining four rooms have more than enough space for two cats from the same family to share.

My own house cats used to have their own bedroom—before children came along! Inspired by their setup, I wanted to replicate the same comfort at The Great Catsby. The rooms are all fully insulated, heated and private, ensuring your cat enjoys the same cosy environment they’re used to at home. Every room has an activity wall, multiple wall-mounted scratch posts, platforms, and plenty of comfy sleeping spots with lots of opportunities to explore, climb, and play. There’s also space to hide for those first few days if your cat needs extra time to adjust, or wants to have some time to themselves.
I understand how hard it can be to leave your cat in someone else’s care. One of my priorities is ensuring that every cat has a positive experience whilst away from home. If your cat is anxious or hiding when they arrive I can assure you that they won't feel lonely or abandoned during their stay and they won't be hiding by the time they go home. As it's just me here I can spend quality time with each guest throughout the day, whether it’s playing, snuggling, or simply sitting nearby to reassure nervous kitties.
To help ease your mind, regular updates are sent during their stay, so you’ll always know exactly how your cat is settling in and enjoying their holiday. This way, you can relax and enjoy your time away, knowing your furry family member is in safe and loving hands.
